Don't get me wrong; classics got to be classics for a reason. Ranch, Thousand Island, Italian, French, and Blue Cheese all seem to have their place in the eternal pantheon of salad dressings, but in this day and age, there's so many more ingredients with which to experiment. Although most of the newer or posh dressings in your average grocery store are but a shell of the originals, we can still get the gist of the different vinaigrettes and dressings available for your greens. I've noticed a crop of "Asian-style" dressings, and although there are no "traditional Asian dressings" as we know them, it's still a fun and unique concept to incorporate the flavors into your salad. While it's fun to buy and try, I still prefer to DIY and fine tune. I found this recipe using carrots for the bulk of the dressing and couldn't help but be entranced by the novelty. Although you can choose the type of oil, I'd recommend sesame oil as it has a flavor and intoxicating aroma which just can't be beat.

I am a lover of Ranch dressing, but have been enjoying some of the Asian dressings also. This recipe sounds really good. I am thinking it would make a great marinade also, what do you think?
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy it! I've never actually used this dressing as a marinade, so I'm not sure how well it would work. Maybe if you try it out, you can let me know! :)
