All the flavor of bacon bits – right at home!
A quick and easy way to make bacon bits! An added benefit to making bacon bits yourself is you get to keep the flavorful bacon grease to use somewhere else. In addition to having much more flavor than the store bought ones, which have been sitting on the shelf for who knows how long, you can customize the size of each piece. And maybe even test a few samples in the process. :P The bacon bits can be stored in the freezer and used just like the store bought ones, except they will be much better tasting.
How will you use your bacon bits?

gotta love bacon, right? My favorite way to use bacon bits is on a baked potato - yum! And homemade are SO much better (+ better for you) than the store-bought kind. Win!
ReplyDeleteOf course bacon makes everything just better. :) I'm a fan of baked potatoes with bacon bits on top too!
ReplyDeleteSometimes we forget how easy it is to do things like this ourselves. The bacon would definitely have more flavor. Thanks for bringing me out of the store bought convenience cloud!
ReplyDeleteThank you also for sharing this recipe at our BBQ Block Party.
Thanks for sharing on the BBQ Block Party! I like the idea of making them ahead of time plus you could store in the freezer too. Going on my to do list!
ReplyDeleteYes! I was surprised (although I'm not sure I should have been) at how much more flavor's packed into each little bit of bacon. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and stopping by! :) I try to have bacon bits in the freezer at all times. :)
