I've made various biscuits before, but I didn't really want to get out cheese and garlic and whatever else I usually add. Plain biscuits didn't appeal much to me either. What simple ingredient could I add to biscuits? Looking around and wondering, I saw some oatmeal and wondered no more. I'd make oatmeal biscuits. Adding oatmeal to breakfast is great because it will keep you feeling full until lunch. It's also a great way to add some extra nutrition to regular biscuits. (Don't tell James, but I sneak some oatmeal into our biscuits regularly now!) Oatmeal is filled with complex carbs, soluble fiber, and beta-glucan. These can lower blood cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. Oatmeal also adds a bit of substance and texture to your biscuits.
