Can you believe it’s September already? Hopefully Irene didn’t hit anyone too hard – it wasn’t too bad around here, but I know some places are still recovering.
Without further ado, here's the Top 5 most visited recipes last month!
5. Creamed Corn CornbreadPin ItA slightly sweet Southern style creamed corn cornbread – perfect alone or paired with BBQ or chili. The creamed corn really adds some sweetness and texture to the cornbread.
4. Vietnamese Pickled Carrots and DaikonPin ItAlso known as do chua, these pickled carrots and daikon are done in a sweetly tangy Vietnamese style. If you made this with just the daikon, it’s pretty similar to Korean danmuji and Japanese takuwan. Also goes great with Vietnamese Caramel Shrimp! (#3 this month!)
3. Vietnamese Caramel ShrimpPin ItSweetly savory and succulent shrimp, sauteed with garlic and onion, and then topped with a caramel sauce. We had these shrimp with the Vietnamese Pickled Carrots and Daikon, and they contrasted quite well – bringing out different flavors in each other, making for additional tastiness!
2. Tomato Pie>Pin ItA crisp buttery crust filled with savory onions and cheese, then topped with herbs and heirloom tomatoes. I had this pie with the Cornmeal Pie Crust, and I’d recommend that crust since it’s a bit more savory and sturdy. However, the standard pie crust would also work. This pie is a great way to prevent all those summer tomatoes from going!
And finally, last month's most visited recipe:
1. Coconut PopsiclesPin ItSmooth and creamy coconut popsicles with little bits of coconut! With the hot summer we’ve had, is it any real surprise that the coconut popsicles would win? |
